Railway Transport Security Services

Worldwide, rail attacks are more frequent and deadly than those at airports or on airplanes. The vulnerability of both freight and passenger rail network presents a number of problems from the Security and Risk Management viewpoint. Multiple (often unregulated) access points and journeying through densely populated areas allow for numerous attack points. Further still, transportation of hazardous cargo can lead to catastrophic consequences in the event of an attack.

ISS has established a security framework through which it assists clients (whether network, station, rolling-stock or terminal operators) to secure their assets and mitigate the risk. The services include assessment, planning, training, drills and exercises, all leading to a more secure rail environments. In many cases we work with the host country's Rail Regulators and Authorities to achieve compliance with existing National Security Standards, such as the UK's National Railways Security Programme.
